History of Blangsinga Waterfall

Blangsinga Waterfall is one of the waterfalls located in Gianyar, Bali. According to travel agent websites, this waterfall is also known as Tegenungan. Blangsinga Waterfall can be accessed through two different routes: the first from the west side of Banjar Tegenungan, Kemenuh Village, and the second from the east side of Banjar Blangsinga, Saba Village.

The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and is a great spot for taking photos with the 15-meter-high waterfall as the backdrop. You can also find stacked stones, which are a characteristic feature of Blangsinga Waterfall.

Legend has it that the Petanu River, which is the only source of water for Blangsinga Waterfall, was the bathing place of Patih Kebo Iwa, a military commander during the reign of Prabu Sri Astasura Ratna Bumi Banten in the 14th century. This is further supported by the presence of handprints believed to belong to Patih Kebo Iwa on the cliffs along the river.

Additionally, the Petanu River was once an access route for Danghyang Nirartha in spreading Hinduism. This is evident from the numerous traces of Hinduism spread on the river’s walls. Moreover, there is a meditation place of Danghyang Nirartha, known as Pura Musen.

Location and Route to Blangsinga Waterfall

Blangsinga Waterfall is located in Banjar Blangsinga, Saba Village, Blahbatuh, in the Gianyar Regency area. The best way to reach the waterfall is by car. From Denpasar City, it takes about 46 minutes or 22.2 km via Jl. Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra. Here is the route:

  1. Take Gang 1 to Jalan Diponegoro.
  2. Then, take Jalan WR Supratman and Jalan Prof Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra towards Jalan Pantai Purnama in Sukawati.
  3. Stay on Jalan Pantai Purnama, then take Jalan Raya Dewa Saba and Jalan Pantai Saba to Jalan Raya Blangsinga in Saba.
